Creating a Safer Warehouse for FareShare Volunteers
The Problem
As a volunteer-led organisation, FareShare faced challenges in maintaining a strong health and safety culture.
Without clear walkways or protective barriers, pedestrians and forklifts were operating in close proximity, particularly in narrow areas, increasing the risk of accidents.
The Solution
A comprehensive safety review was conducted to create a tailored solution for the site.
Clear walkways and designated pedestrian crossings were implemented, while high-risk areas were safeguarded with polymeric barriers.

Chained and polymeric barriers were installed in sections that could be enclosed when forklifts were in operation, ensuring a flexible but controlled safety system.

The Result
FareShare’s warehouse is now a significantly safer environment for volunteers.
Clear walkways provide structured pedestrian routes, while forklift zones are effectively separated, reducing the risk of incidents.
Volunteers can confidently navigate the site, knowing exactly how to stay safe, while forklift operators benefit from a more controlled working area.
